"Baadshah" is the popular alias of a private detective of Mumbai, Raj (Shah Rukh Khan) who is assigned by Mahendra Seth (Anant Mahadevan) the task of delivering the latter's little daughter from the custody of some kidnappers, for which Baadshah has to fly to Goa. Coincidentally, a CBI officer Deepak Malhotra (Deepak Tijori) is given the codename "Baadshah" to secretly probe into and preclude a likely attempt of murder of Goa's CM Mrs Gayatri Bachchan (Rakhee Gulzar) by an influential industrialist Suraj Thapar (Amrish Puri) for which Malhotra has to reach Goa by air. Under some freaky circumstances, both these "Baadshah"s are scheduled to travel by the same Goa-bound flight of Indian Airlines (now Air India). However, because of ridiculously inaccurate circumstances, the original Baadshah receives the flight ticket of the CBI's Baadshah, whereas, unfortunately, the CBI's Baadshah is bumped off by Thapar's aide at the airport. Then follows a sequence of horrifying yet comical situations as Baadshah gets entangled in the task of saving the life of the CM besides rescuing the little girl, while Seema (Twinkle Khanna) who hated Baadshah for his deception in the past romantic affair of the two, assists him in this noble deed.
